CHARTER

Introduction

We are an LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) recognized by the City of Sacramento. The Sac City LGBTQ+ ERG was formed in 2020 by City employees to bring our community together.

Mission

The City of Sacramento LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group mission is to:

  1. serve as an advisory group to the city management on policies and programs affecting us;

  2. provide LGBTQ+ employees with peer support resources;

  3. educate and provide training on LGBTQ+ subjects;

  4. provide LGBTQ+ employees and allies with a “safe space” to network with others, including hosting social events.

Membership

  • All City of Sacramento employees are eligible to become members of the Sac City LGBTQ+ ERG.

  • To become a member a city employee must email the designated group email: saccitylgbtqi@gmail.com. The Secretary will then add the member to the Membership List located on Microsoft Teams.

  • It is the member’s responsibility to contact the Secretary to be removed from the Membership List.

Structure and Operations

The Sac City LGBTQ+ ERG shall be composed of Officers and committees.

Officers

The group shall have the following Officers, serving for 1-year terms:

  1. Chair(s): meeting convener(s), point of contact for group, checks in with committees.

  2. Secretary: prepares meeting agenda, takes notes/minutes and maintains membership list.

  3. Communications Director: maintains and updates email account, social media (Instagram and Facebook).

Committees

There shall be four committees with a Chair position for each:

  1. Policy and Advocacy

  2. Education and Training

  3. Peer Support

  4. Social Events

Each committee is responsible for choosing a Chair and meeting regularly. Committees may opt to have co-Chairs to divide the workload. Members can volunteer to join any committee.

Meetings

The Sac City LGBTQ+ ERG shall have monthly membership meetings.

  • Membership meetings will be facilitated by the ERG Chair(s) and will email members with a draft of the agenda, seeking additional agenda items from the membership.

  • After each membership meeting the Secretary will send out a summary of the meeting minutes to the membership. The summary minutes and agendas will also be posted to the ERG Microsoft Teams Files.
